EDUART
- Art in Education Program -

EDU-ART or otherwise Art in education is a program that targets schools and other educational institutions by promoting arts education and the use of theatre/arts to create awareness among pupils and students on various developmental issues such as HIV/AIDS, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Gender issues among others.
In EDU-ARTS project Y-TAP hopes to formally advance artistic skills by training theatre directors, Dance Choreographers, Visual arts instructors and Theatre and development facilitators among others by establishing a formal arts school in Nairobi that targets students from east African region. In the meantime Y-TAP has build relationship with many international arts institutions such as Bagamoyo institute of Arts, Tanzania, Utrecht school of Arts, Netherlands, University of east Anglia, UK where talented young people can go for three months placement to advance their skills and share these skills by conducting classes and workshops in Kenya and the east African region.

2008, Victor Mutendei Osoro attended a three month placement at Utrecht school of the Arts.
2009, Gladys Muthee will attend a three month placement at Music school, Hilversum.
2009, Harrison Okwach will attend a three month placement at Mime School, Amsterdam.



Some of the projects include:

INTERNATIONAL PLACEMENT
sending and receiving students for a three month period.

SCHOOLS SET BOOK PROJECT
working with literature and Fasihi teachers to produce an education production based on ministry of education schools set texts and playing it to students for revision.

ART IN SCHOOLS OUTSOURCING
sending qualified art teachers to schools to tech various art based skills.
